A less common flightless bird

One of our newest additions to the sanctuary are our two rheas. Distantly related to African ostriches and Australian emus, the rheas are a South American flightless bird.

As you’re walking around the sanctuary, be sure to keep an eye out for a sci-fi sounding “boom,” here or there, as it’s coming from one of these two big-eyed boys!
